Anna Ciddor was born in Melbourne, Australia and was raised in a house with no TV.  Anna and her sisters made their own entertainment by drawing, writing stories and acting plays.  After an initial career as a senior school math’s teacher, Anna decided to have a go at publishing a new book.  The new career flourished and since then Anna Ciddor has written and illustrated over 50 books on historical topics as diverse as Vikings, Irish druids, Australian history, travel, and toilets! Titles such as The Boy Who Stepped Through Time, 52 Mondays, The Family With Two Front Doors, and Viking Magic, to name but a few.

The Boy Who Stepped Through Time, the latest historical book from Anna was published by @AllenAndUnwin (Allen and Unwin Publishers) last month on 11 November.  A wonderfully successful year for Anna, also being awarded the biennial ‘Nance Donkin Literary Award’, and her latest book The Boy Who Stepped Through Time has been longlisted for the prestigious ARA HNSA Historical Fiction Prize.

Synopsis

When Perry steps into a crumbling ruin while on holiday in France, he is not expecting to be transported back 1700 years to Roman times. While he hunts desperately for a way home, he must blend in as a slave – even if it means eating mice for dinner! Gradually, Perry is caught up in the fascinating world of grand Villa Rubia and a life he could never have imagined. But when he makes a new friend, he thinks he might already know her terrible fate. Perry is faced with an impossible choice: to find his way home or stay and guard his friend’s life – and risk being trapped in the past forever…
