Biography

Bill Granger was born in 1969. He is an Australian self-taught cook, restaurateur and food writer. He relocated from Melbourne to Sydney in the late 1980’s to study Art and worked as a waiter to earn some extra cash. Whilst doing this his interests shifted from art to food and in 1993 he left art school to open his own restaurant, bills, in Sydney, which became legendary for its breakfasts, especially the creamy scrambled eggs, served on communal tables.

All Bills restaurants aim to reflect the ‘Australian’ spirit: sunny, easy-going and generous.

His enthusiasm for great, fresh food now has a global reach, with restaurants in Seoul, Tokyo and London as well as Sydney.

He has written 11 cookbook and made 5 cookery series, shown in over 30 countries.

He continues to write recipe columns for magazines and newspapers worldwide. His most recent cookbook is Australian Food (published in 2020).

He and his wife Natalie Elliot have three daughters.
