Gillian Anderson: Netflix’s new film; Scoop

War Child Ambassador and brilliant actress Gillian Anderson is staring in Netflix’s new film, Scoop, a drama adaptation of the famous Prince Andrew interview for BBC’s Newsnight.

Anderson, an award winning actress who first was catapulted to fame playing FBI Special Agent Dana Scully in The X-Files. She has been on our screens in some capacity ever since, and also graced the stage in critically acclaimed theatre roles, notably the Young Vic’s A streetcar names Desire, where she played Blanche Dubois – I can personally vouch for the fact she was fabulous as the well-known complex character.

Netflix’s drama Scoop features Anderson as presenter and journalist Emily Maitlis, and retells the process of securing the 2019 BBC television interview of Prince Andrew for current affairs programme Newsnight amid his alleged role in the Epstein scandal. It also stars Keely Hawes, Billie Piper and Rufus Sewell.

The film was released this month and includes the famous and controversial claim by Prince Andrew that he can’t sweat.

As well as her glittering acting career she is lending her support and voice to War child in their work protecting, educating and standing up for children affected by conflict. She really is an amazing person as well as a world class actor.
